How to Beat Crabtaur in Everything is Crab

Crabtaur teaches the boss language of Everything is Crab: bait commitment, leave the danger line, then punish while the boss is busy recovering.

Quick Answer

To beat Crabtaur, stop running straight backward. Give the charge a clear lane, sidestep before contact, then punish from the side or after the crash. Bring at least one movement tool and one reliable attack before forcing the fight.

Boss read: every charge is a line. Your job is to decide where that line goes before the boss decides for you.

Crabtaur fight plan

  1. Enter with movement, enough health, and one damage tool you can use safely.
  2. Move diagonally instead of straight backward so you do not get pinned.
  3. Let Crabtaur commit to a charge path.
  4. Sidestep early, then attack during the recovery window.
  5. Use obstacles only when you have enough space to leave the line.

Build checks before the fight

CheckReady if...Fix if missing
MovementYou can leave a charge lane without panic.Take speed, dodge, Smol, Sprint, or similar movement support.
DamageYou can punish without standing in front for too long.Choose one reliable direct attack instead of multiple half-built attacks.
DefenseYou survive one mistake while learning timing.Add Shell, Plated, HP, or other resistance tools.
FoodYou reached the fight without being underleveled.Improve safe food routes before forcing boss attempts.

Ole! and Opportunistic achievements

The public Steam achievement list includes Ole!, which asks you to hit a Crabtaur while it is charging, and Opportunistic, which asks you to kill Crabtaur by having it crash into an obstacle. These are not normal DPS checks. They are spacing checks.

For Ole!, prepare a quick hit and step into the edge of the charge timing only when you know the line. For Opportunistic, lower Crabtaur carefully, then route the final crash into an obstacle without accidentally finishing it with your own attack.

FAQ

Why do I keep dying to Crabtaur?

You are probably backing up in a straight line or attacking from the front. Move diagonally and punish after commitment.

Is Crabtaur easier with high damage?

High damage helps, but movement matters more while learning. A fast build can create clean punish windows.
